Airbnb community wraps up Week For Good activities in London

One week out of every year, Airbnb staff, hosts and nonprofit partners across the globe come together to make a difference and bring our company’s values to life. In London, the team embarked on a series of outings and events aimed at giving back to local communities across London.

On Tuesday, members of Airbnb’s London office worked with social change agency, Purpose, to host a nonpartisan Get Out The Vote Hackathon aimed at encouraging younger people to get out and vote in the upcoming general election.

Airbnb staffers and hosts joined together to participate in a neighbourhood clean up in Lee Valley where the group helped paint over graffiti in the borough of Waltham Forest. Across town in Islington, staff worked alongside the Islington Rangers to conduct clean up and beautify the local King Square Park.

Centerpoint — a youth homelessness charity — worked with Airbnb staff on Wednesday to conduct a pro-bono skill share session on employment. Youths were able to ask questions and seek career advice from a panel of team members with varied backgrounds who reflected on their own career trajectories and provided recommendations to some of the job hunters on hand.

Finally, on Thursday, the team closed out Week For Good activity by visiting the Vibast Centre to run a volunteers lunch and befriending event with FCV Dorcas in Finsbury and Clerkenwell. The team donated and served lunch to members of the local community, spending time with those in attendance to learn more about them and their individual histories.

Week for Good is an annual project which encompasses all 26 Airbnb offices around the world. Last year, the company collectively contributed 6,000 hours of service across the globe.
